Neighbors in Memory on BluRay

An entangled legacy in profiles

The Armenian Genocide of 1915 is a fact widely accepted around the world, and forever contested and rejected by Turkey, the country where the genocide was geographically perpetrated over a hundred years ago.

This video project is a culmination of research, interviews and events organized and captured by documentarian Gonca Sönmez-Poole. Its mission is neither to explain history nor to bring new facts to this controversial subject. It simply aims to bring forth a variety of voices and perspectives from a group of Armenians and Turks whose lives remain entangled in this legacy in the here and now. Without a pulpit to directly address the powers that be, these individuals nonetheless bring fresh, deeply personal insight into the long reach of this unresolved historical tragedy.
