TAWA panel discussion at Framingham State University (April 2017)
This is a screening and panel discussion about the work and experiences of TAWA, a grassroots initiative of Turkish and Armenian women that held regular meetings between September 2012 and May 2014. The event was organized and moderated by Kaan Ağartan, Associate Professor of Sociology at Framingham State University. In addition to TAWA founder Gonca Sönmez-Poole, three other members of TAWA (Zeren Earls, Lerna Ekmekcioğlu and Tsoleen Sarian) were included in the panel discussion. Ekmekcioğlu, who is an Associate Professor of History at MIT, gave the keynote, placing the efforts of TAWA within the history of the Armenian Genocide. Sönmez-Poole screened a couple of short videos related to TAWA members, and all panelists answered questions and welcomed comments from the audience.

This is the video recording of a panel that took place on March 30, 2015 at Framingham State University in Massachusetts. Titled “A Wound too Deep to Heal: The Armenian Genocide at 100,” the event was organized by FSU professor Kaan Ağartan with panelists appearing in the following order: Dr. Pamela Steiner, Harry Parsekian, Gonca Sönmez-Poole, Paula Parnagian. The two-hour session took place in a fully-packed room, with plenty of time for questions and answers.
